Mr. Umasankar Sinha Mahapatra, Managing Director- Pulcra Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd., which is a part of Pulcra Group (Germany), having history over 140 years in speciality chemicals for textiles, fibers and leather. It has operation in 16 countries around the world.
He has over 22 years of work experience in the industry where he has worked with diverse product segments like yarns & threads, denim, technical textiles, home textiles and speciality chemicals. He has worked in multiple functions like operation, R&D, business development, sustainability and sales & marketing.
Before joining Pulcra Chemicals he worked with leading textile companies like Welspun India Ltd. (where he served as Senior Vice President and Group Head - Innovation & Sustainability); Aditya Birla Group (as Asst. Vice President – Customer Value Creation for their Overseas Spinning Business in Indonesia); Arvind Ltd., Ahmedabad where he played instrumental role in setting up their Technical Textile Business, served there as Head of Technical Marketing & Product Innovation. He started his career with Vardhman Group, Ludhiana as R&D Engg.
By education, Mr. Umasankar graduated in Textile Technology from University of Calcutta. He did M. Tech in Textile Engineering from IIT Delhi. While working at Arvind he has successfully completed Executive Programme in Business Management from IIM Calcutta. During his service at Welspun he earned Post Graduate Diploma in Innovation and Design Thinking from Emeritus Institute and did certification in Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies from University of Cambridge Judge Business School.
